Betty Andersen with the Lord Provost planting a tree to celebrate the beginning of Bridging the Gap with Kinship Support

Bridging the Gap with Kinship Support is a self-help group in the Aberdeen area run by and for family members fulfilling a parental role for children, who’s birth parents are unable to do this themselves for a variety of reasons. We understand what this full-time, permanent and committed challenge can mean and aim to offer support where we can.

The group meets on a monthly basis and we find that the opportunity to talk over our problems with a cup of tea helps when parenting children, which for many of us, is the ‘second time around’ and can be physically, emotionally and financially challenging.
